HIV AIDS is a disease that affects people’s lives in more ways than just their immediate health. In Cambodia it is still socially challenging to live with AIDS in the wider community.
I wanted to take a series of portraits to show the beautiful and fragile characters, of normal people, with the same dreams and ambitions as you and me. Some of the people have AIDS, some do not, you can't really tell from the photos. And the point of this series is exactly that, you can't judge a person on a medical condition, especially when most had no say in it at all.
This series of portraits was taken at a place in Cambodia called the Wat Opot Community. Wayne the director looks after about 65 children and teenagers all directly or indirectly affected by the disease. |
